and the burning question could be: if you were looking for art to hang on your walls, would you buy my art? Every artist wants to know if what he/she does is sellable. But a lot of times the real point is not just to make money ( although that is important!) but also to feel validation. Art is something very personal that is done in solitude, comes from the mind of one person and exposes our emotions to people we have yet to meet and know nothing about. In my mind, I see Sally Fields, with tears in her eyes, saying,”You like me, you really, really like me.” There were some artists who were so magnificent in what they produced that they just did because they could.
