MV Maribelle was moored just outside the city wall of Avignon
Right by the ‘Avignon Eye’
We enjoyed a walk round the city and a coffee in the square by the Hotel de Ville
In the afternoon we visited the ancient Roman aquaduct, Pont du Gard
Then we went on to the lovely old town of Uzes with its ancient tower
Narrow alleyways
and picturesque market square
We spent a pleasant morning wandering through the narrow streets in Arles
We found what calls itself the Yellow House, but not the original where Van Gogh lived as that has been demolished
Then in the afternoon we went on a tour of the Camargue. We saw some of the famous white horses, not running and prancing as one imagines, but quietly nibbling the grass
We saw flamingoes and storks but they were too far away for a photo. But we did see some of the black bulls, looking rather lazy in the afternoon heat
